Um mit dem Heckumbau zu beginnen habe ich mir erstmal einen passenden Rahmen-Loop gekauft. Ich will dort eine LED-Rückleuchtenleiste einbauen. Man kann sich das auch in den USA bei cognitomoto.com (siehe Bild links) bestellen, jedoch ist deren Preis nicht gleich meiner Vorstellung. Daher habe ich mich motiviert den Loop selber zu bauen.
To start the rear frame conversion I first of all bought a suited frame loop. There I like to integrate a LED-string like shown in the picture left. I could buy it at cognitomoto.com, but their price is not what I expected. So I motivated myself to do it by my own.
Dazu habe ich mir den Loop aufgeflext. Die Maße der LED-Leiste hatte ich natürlich. Anschließend habe ich mir ein U-Profil bestellt um eine Führung für die LED-Leiste zu biegen. Diese sollte dann später in den Loop geschweißt werden.
Therefore I grinded the loop with the metrics of the LED-string. Afterwards I bought a U-profile to bend a guide for the string. This has to be welded into the loop later on.
Nachdem ich das U-Profil dann zu Hause hatte fiel mir auf, dass es garnicht so banal war es ohne Biegemaschine zu biegen. Aber die Not macht erfinderisch, also habe ich mir aus Holz den Umfang des Loop gesägt und mit dem Heißluftfön das U-Profil an der Biegestelle ordentlich erhitzt.
After I received the u-profile I recognized it is not that easy to bend without a bending mashine. But need is the mother of invention, so I saw a loop profile from wood and heated the u-profile with the heat gun.
Leider passte danach die LED-Leiste nicht mehr in das U-Profil. Also habe ich mir ein etwas breiteres U-Profil gekauft, was aber nach all den eben erklärten Arbeiten dann immer noch zu breit war.
Daher habe ich mich entschieden das U-Profile selber zu basteln!
Einfach ein Stahlblech bestellt und eine Form aufgezeichnet, ausgesägt und mit Heißluftfön und Gummihammer auf dem Schraubstock zurecht gebogen.
Unfortunately the LED-string did not suited anymore after that. So I ordered a wider U-profile, which was still too wide after I repeated all the former steps.
I then decided to craft a U-profile by myself!
I ordered a steel sheet and drawn a scheme on it, saw it and bend it with the heat gun and a rubber hammer on my vise.
Am nächsten Morgen habe ich mir den Loop und mein selbst gebasteltes U-Profil zum schweißen gebracht.
The next morning I brought the frame loop and my selfmade U-profile for welding.
Der nächste Schritt war dann die Vorbereitung des Rahmens für den weiteren Umbau. Dazu habe ich zuerst einmal die alte Haltekonstruktion gekürzt und anschließend dann ein Rundrohr mit den Maßen 22mm x 1,5mm passend für die Falz bearbeitet.
The next step was to prepare the frame for the conversion. I shortened the old construction und then grinded a round pipe with 22mm x 1,5mm to suit on the fold of the frame.
Das war leider auch nicht so banal, da die Falz nicht gerade verläuft. MIt etwas Nacharbeit passte es dann aber doch.
Am darauf folgenden Samstag ging es dann zum ersten schweißen.
Dabei wurde dann auch das gekürzte Heck des Originalrahmens zugeschweißt.
That was not that easy as it seems because the fold was not straight. But it suited with a bit rework.
The following saturday I brought the frame for the first part of the welding.
The shortend original frame was closed there too.
